May Day


People observe May 1st as ‘May day/International workers day’ .It marks the beginning of  'Eight-hours day' movement in United State.May Day is a public holiday. This is a day of demonstrations, parades, and speeches.

On 1st May 1886 many labour unions of US started a protest against ‘Working for long hours’. On May 4th 12 people died and over 100 people injured in bloodshed happened at Chicago’s Hay market Square due to a bomb blast.

Later 8 working hour a day is accepted by so many countries worldwide.

From 1923 India started observing May Day.
